Autumn 2021

With the skills of the team at Tooley’s boatyard, and the enthusiasm and generosity of our volunteers, Kilsby was made watertight. A steel ‘slipper’ was built to encapsulate the historic but leaky wooden bottom. Volunteers spent hours, days, weeks blasting rust from the interior of the hull. A temporary roof was constructed from the pallets on which the steel for the slipper was delivered. Finally, a slick and shiny layer of bitumen was applied to the outside of the hull.
